"Death Knell"

Mesmerized, I watch Her die

As flowers Fade in Fall.

Not One will tell the Reason why:

"We're well within the Law.

"The law says We can tear Her down,

And build up Something New...

Her time is over; Look around.

Besides, what's it to you?"

"I am her Daughter," I reply,

"Of Constant pain and Strife.

I've watched as many men stood by,

And let you take Her Life."

"So helpless," men consider(ed) Her:

"Not able to Fight Back.

She's filled with wealth; we won't Incur

A debt; we'll leave no Tracks...

"No trace of all the harm we caused;

Besides, her Body's 'dead.'

She's not Alive." so without Pause,

They cut Her, as She Bled...

No time to Heal from all Her wounds;

No part did they Replace.

A pack of Wolves, they all Assumed

No one had left a Trace:

No sign, no sight, no way to Know

"Who did this awful Thing?"

"Who placed explosives, set to Blow

Her up?" Let Freedom Ring.

"The Melting Pot!"

"Our Goose is cooked!

"Where can we go to Hide?

"We never knew the Daughter Looked!

To Stay is Suicide!"

Get out of here, you Filthy Curs!

Go back, where you Belong.

Rabid dogs who have no Fur;

She's singing Her death song...

She'll strip you Naked, one and All,

And march you to your Graves.

No pardons; She's within the Law

In this Land, of the Brave.
