"Lost, but not Forgotten"
Earth has been robbed of so much of Her beauty, it's hard to believe what She used to look like. Even I can recall many more trees and creeks, much fewer cars and trucks........but I can't remember before noise came. Before men changed it, the land was filled with sounds that were lovely to the ear.........soft summer breezes ruffling the leaves of the trees......birds chirping and singing all morning, and later, as the sun gave way to the evening, peeping and murmuring among themselves as they settled down to sleep.........water gurgling in the creek........ . chattering and fussing..........cattle lowing...horses neighing...........and the crickets. So many comforting sounds have been eliminated to make way for what men call progress. There is no progress in slaughter.
Believe it or not, I remember clean air, and clear water. I remember walking the sidewalks of my hometown in Kentucky and smelling flowers all around me, and fresh-cut grass. Today, not so much. Even small towns are so filled with traffic that no flowers can be smelled. Emissions from exhaust pipes destroy the fragrance of flowers, too. We already knew that automobiles poison the air and water, but I guess nobody thought about what it was doing to the grass and flowers when a car raced by, spewing out death in it's wake. This is titled Lost but not Forgotten. Misleading, I suppose, since what I remember isn't a fairy's whisker compared to what I can't recall, because it was before my time. I read about it, though, about what the planet used to be. I learned that when America only had "natives"... before the white man came...a man could literally walk across the country on top of the trees. That's how many trees were in this land, so many trees that their tops made a carpet for man to walk on. The white man had no use for treetop carpeting; he wanted fields.
I've been watching for a week as trees were felled for I-don't-know-what; as they cut down tree after tree, I wonder if they once thought of the animals they were displacing, of all the birds that would be left without homes for their young, or the food they all need to survive. Animals and birds aren't high enough on the "food chain" to deserve consideration; never mind that they were here before people ever walked the land. Few people realize that in the act of destroying wildlife, men are laying the foundation for their own destruction. If Nature's creatures are killed off, we lose a major portion of what makes this planet habitable. We don't, and never will have the ability to re-create animal life, despite knowing how to clone some. Even if we could, what would they eat, since we will have already destroyed their habitats, their food and water source.
Do you believe there is "God"? I do. Are you aware that the entire planet, inside and out, belongs to God, and not us? I am. Have you realized that if God exists, there are terrible punishments promised for the things man has done to the Earth, and to all of God's "children"? I have. Did you know that God refers to ants as people? coneys as folk? a spider who has hands? I didn't, until I found it in the Bible....or it found me. I don't know how to study the Bible and learn anything of worth unless the Spirit of Truth leads me through it. I found that out between 1998 and 2003. The Spirit even lets you know where to pause and reflect on what you've just read. The word : selah is used many times in the book of Psalms. It means "pause", which is why the Spirit told the author to use that word. It's all part of the mystery and magic that is the Bible. That word should be engraved on the foreheads of the "movers and shakers" of Earth. "Pause. Think it through before you act on it, whatever "genius" ideas you come up with, Selah, and think deep thoughts. God will bless you for it.
