"Points of Light"

The phrase : points of light has been used in various ways; there is a foundation named for it, that brings businesses and organizations together to bring change to the world. It's been used in a novel as a description of a black screen lighting up with a thousand points of light. In the fantasy world of Narnia, the stars are described as points of light.

My points of light are in the Bible. They are the myriad of "small things" in the book. The plummet in the hand of Zerubabble is a point of light. The exaltation of the trees of Lebanon is a point of light. "...as a cottage in a garden of cucumbers..." that's another point of light. They are countless, and scattered throughout the scriptures like diamonds on black velvet, and they are seen in the way a night sky that gradually fills with stars is seen...dimly, at first, then, as the sky darkens more and more, thousands upon thousands of Nature's points of light are scattered across the blackened sky. The darkness God's lights must shine through in the Bible is shown in the way God's words have been distorted, ignored, twisted, displaced, abbreviated, re-translated...the message darkened by lies and deceit, and the spirits in despair because few bother to uncover the lights. The tiny pieces of information, of truth that cannot be denied, are God's points of light, and they connect, one to the other...again and again, until a network forms. A spiritual web, the motivation for our internet. A God who can cause such a web to form in the words of a book, thousands of years before it's published, and send it into the future to perform His words? That's a God I can deal with. That's the same God who laid the plans for the human brain, the first computer on Earth. I can worship that God. The one who sends me out to do his job? harvesting souls for Jesus? I can't get behind that one. If he needs me to gather souls for him, he's a weak, puny god, not worth mentioning. The God I'm familiar with has no trouble at all in calling to one of His children, and needs no help with saving the souls He created by giving a portion of His spirit so that they would exist. His true children are part of His own "body", made from His essence. He needs no one's help in calling his children to His side.

Points of light in the Bible are points to ponder, to think deeply about and do research on, even if that research only consists of the use of a good dictionary. They can't be counted, but they can be found. It takes work; it takes time; it takes interest in knowing positively if there is "God." You can't pay someone else to do it by passing an "offering" plate inside a building you have fashioned for yourselves and called "God's House." God's house is not a building. It's a family, living on a planet that was formed to be our house! Get that through your hardened skulls. The Spirit that is God the Father does no live in a building that was constructed by men and women. He is not there! If you go there to worship, you are going to the House of Baal.
